Minnesota is home to more than mosquitos in summer and epic snowfall and cold weather the rest of the year. At the end of the summer each year, it is host to one of the largest and longest continually held state fairs in the country.
State Fairs used to be held in every state and were a source of 19th Century state pride with each state attempting to out-do the other. As the year progressed, however, state fairs lost their importance in many areas of the country and many states got rid of the events all together.
Minnesota however continues to hold their fair and has extensive permanent grounds for the fair north of the state capital in St. Paul, MN.
